I remember back in my school days, I would always dread the moment when the teacher would ask a question and scan the room, looking for a victim to call on. And of course, I would always try to make myself as small and inconspicuous as possible, hoping that I would blend in with the furniture and go unnoticed.
But sometimes, fate was not on my side. The teacher’s eyes would lock onto me, and my heart would drop to my stomach. I would try to come up with an answer, but my mind would go completely blank, and I would end up stammering some incoherent nonsense that would only make me look like a fool.
One time, I even tried to hide behind a book, thinking that if the teacher couldn’t see me, she wouldn’t call on me. But of course, that didn’t work, and I ended up getting reprimanded for not paying attention.
It wasn’t until I discovered the power of the “fake cough” that I finally found a solution to my problem. Whenever the teacher would start asking questions, I would start coughing loudly and dramatically, making it clear to everyone in the room that I was too sick to participate. It wasn’t the most dignified solution, but it worked like a charm, and I was able to avoid being put on the spot.
Of course, there were times when my coughing got a bit out of hand, and I would end up drawing more attention to myself than I intended. But hey, at least I didn’t have to answer any questions!
So to all my fellow introverts out there, don’t give up hope. There are plenty of ways to avoid being called on in class, even if it means faking a cough or two. And remember, even if you do end up getting called on, just take a deep breath, and remember that it’s okay to be a little bit awkward sometimes. After all, that’s what makes us introverts so special.
